Corrina Cooper
Corrina Cooper was born in 1990 in the South East of England and is of Costa Rican decent. In 2010 she moved to Lincoln to study at a BA in Fine Art at the University of Lincoln. Her creative practice at this point was lost in the awe, and intimidating allure of the artworld, unable to find focus but with an interest in documenting or highlighting ‘the everyday’. Laying grass in a gallery was one such instance. Cooper’s Art practice didn’t start here and following this, her career, spanned the education sector, focusing upon teaching and learning within a creative context. During the restrictions of lockdown/ 2020, Cooper picked up a paintbrush and reignited her creative practice. The confines of a flat, and lack of being able to escape unintentionally created a creative bubble. One that still grasps that concept of ‘the everyday’. through that initial thread of focus back in 2010. Consequently a collection of paintings were created refining a distinct style routed within Pop Art and Art Deco influences. A position that fractures thought geometrically but still holds a grasp on reality.
